Effects-Of-Epidural-In-Birth-Dr-Sarah-BuckleyI’m so pumped this week after returning from the Hypnobirthing Australia conference in Brisbane, where I met the amazing Dr Sarah Buckley.

If you don’t know who Dr Buckley is … let me enlighten you.

She’s a world renowned medical doctor who specialises in birth and the author of best selling book, Gentle Birth Gentle Mothering.

Anyway … as you can imagine she’s like a celebrity in the baby world and I hung off every word of her keynote speech.

I was particularly affected by her presentation on the effects of medical intervention in childbirth.

Medical intervention definitely has it’s place and can be life saving … but these days parents are often completely unaware of the worrying side affects.

Epidurals and c-sections have become such a normal part of labour for many women and it’s a trend that is worrying some medical experts.

I have put together some videos to show the effects of these drugs on mothers and their babies. This is not to scare anyone, but to educate us to know ALL the facts, so we can make educated and empowered decisions.

The first video is: The Effects Of Epidural In Birth According To Dr Sarah Buckley

Hallo, Tracey! In this video you said you had an epidural. This fact totally confused me, because in many videos and articles you used to say you gave birth to both your children using hypnobirthing technic , and that because you didn’t want to take an epidural and that all relatives and friends didn’t Understand you because of that. All these years following you on your Website and youtube I was convinced you didn’t take an epidural. Moreover you used to say you had such gentle births that it practically didn’t hurt. Well, I’m perplexed….

      Hi Olesya …

I’m perplexed too because I never said I had an epidural. I’ve never had one and I didn’t say that in the video at all. But I don’t want other women to feel ashamed if they had one at all as every birth is different and everyone does what is best for them at the time.

I personally didn’t need an epidural for either birth because hypnobirthing was so effective for me.

      Perhaps have another listen 🙂
